How To Transition Wardrobes From Spring To Summer

How To Transition Wardrobes From Spring To Summer  Transitioning our wardrobe from cold to warm weather can get tricky. For most of us, the temperatures have been fluctuating drastically from one extreme to another. For that reason, late March to May is really a season that requires different clothing from the hot days of summer. We almost need a separate wardrobe. This is what I call a “transitional wardrobe”.

First, there are three basic rules for this transitional season:

  • Wear lighter colors, especially if wearing heavier fabrics.
  • Wear lighter fabrics, especially if wearing darker colors.
  • Layer for fluctuating temperatures.

In most wardrobes, we have some clothing that we can only wear this time of year. For me, I feel like I barely get to wear them because they’re not winter clothes but they would be too hot for summer. For that reason I try to wear them as much as possible before the hot summer weather gets here. So, here I’ve listed 12 clothing items that are perfect for this transitional time of year:

  1. Jeans, especially ankle-length
  2. White or light-colored jeans
  3. Leggings
  4. Cardigans, especially lightweight fabric or lighter colors
  5. Summer-weight sweaters (these can be long-sleeve if the fabric is lightweight)
  6. Short-sleeve or 3/4 length sweaters, especially if fabric is heavier weight
  7. Long-sleeve blouses
  8. Long-sleeve tunics, if the fabric is lightweight
  9. 3/4-length-sleeve knit tops
  10. Denim jackets
  11. Lightweight blazers
  12. Spring scarves

With these 12 clothing items, you could mix and match all spring for lots of combinations. There’s also lots of layering options here. The point is that these are items that we couldn’t wear in the winter, and most of them might be too hot to wear in the summer, so wear them NOW as much as you can, for as long as you can.

Have a great spring day!
