Preparing Your Wardrobe For Spring

Are you excited about shopping for some spring clothes? Me too! But first, as usual, I recommend that we start with a plan. Although we still have a month or so of cool weather, depending on where you live, we can still do a little organizing and planning to get our closets and our wardrobes ready for spring.

Preparing Wardrobes For Spring

Today, I’ve got a plan for getting a jump-start on our spring wardrobes. Later, preferably in March, you can go back and do a more thorough job of cleaning out, organizing, and planning your wardrobe for spring. But, for now, lets do a fun, quick prep on our spring wardrobes to tie us over till then.

So, what can we do now to get ready?

  • Research styles and trends.
  • Pre-organize our closets.
  • Write a spring shopping wish list.
  • Shop for basics.

PREPARING WARDROBES FOR SPRING

RESEARCH  STYLES AND TRENDS –

  • Look through magazines, catalogs, pinterest, and browse through stores.
  • Take notes and tear out pictures of your favorite styles and colors. Remember to focus on styles that fit you and your lifestyle.

PRE-ORGANIZE OUR CLOSETS –

  • Take everything out and vacuum.
  • For now, put everything back into sections:
    • Winter – Take out anything that’s too worn for next year or you didn’t wear this winter, for whatever reason.
    • Spring – The things you can wear when transitioning to summer.
    • Summer – Things that won’t be warm enough to wear in the Spring.
    • Fall – Some of these might also work for Spring.

WRITE A SPRING SHOPPING WISH LIST – Print out and use the Printable, Seasonal Clothing Shopping List.

  • Basics that you already know you’ll need such as a new jacket, new shoes, or new jeans.
  • Basics that need to be replaced every season or at least once a year such as bras, underclothes, and socks.
  • Things you already know you’d like to buy in the spring that you found while doing research.
  • Things that you might find in the clearance sections, that you could wear in the spring.

SHOP FOR BASICS AND OTHER WISH-LIST ITEMS

  • Start shopping the clearance sections for items that you could wear in the spring. See How To Shop Winter Clearance Sales.
  • Shop for basics on your list. These are often items that you need all year long.
  • Shop for items you found while doing research. Be sure that they fit your lifestyle, body type, and will work with other things you already own. Also, since they might be full price this time of year, look for store coupons.

Spring Wardrobe

That should, hopefully, get you started on your spring wardrobe by having a plan, a basic shopping list, and a few new items added into your closet. Remember, this plan is just to give you a jump-start. Be sure to mark on your calendar exactly when you will do a thorough Spring Wardrobe Planning Project. I, personally, like to do this in early March. I’ll have more on that later.

For now, have fun with your pre-spring wardrobe planning! See you next time!
