My Summer Bucket List

Summer Bucket List    Now that it’s summertime, it can be a struggle to keep a routine, a schedule, and be productive. I guess we sort of get into a vacation mindset. But that’s ok. Slowing down and enjoying life are important too, right? Actually, I think we can make time for both. That is my plan for the summer, to get some things accomplished, and still have time for fun. Summer (and life, for that matter) goes by quickly, and I want to make the most of it! So, to have a great summer, I made a list (I love lists) of some things I want to do this summer. Some are things to accomplish and some are just for fun. Here is my bucket list for this summer:

PRODUCTIVE BUCKET LIST:

  1. Exercise daily – Summer is the perfect time to get active. I am going to include evening walks in addition to my morning workouts.
  2. Healthier eating – There’s tons of farmer’s markets and fresh produce stands to buy seasonal produce. I can’t think of an easier way to get healthy and delicious foods for meals and snacks.
  3. Save money – This summer I’m intentionally trying to spend less on myself (well, I’ll try my best). I’m trying to enjoy simple things like being outdoors instead of shopping. I love shopping, but for the summer, I’m trying to wear what I already have in my closet. If you want to try this, you might want to read my post, Easy Summer Wardrobe On A Budget.
  4. Re-do front porch – It’s done! Now we can enjoy sitting outside on our front porch. I didn’t think we would actually use it much, but we’ve been sitting out there almost every day.
  5. Organize master closet – This will take some time, but it needs to be done. My goal is to have a nice, organized closet before fall.

FUN BUCKET LIST:

  1. More time outside – I plan on spending more time enjoying the outdoors. Even on weekdays, I’m going to make a point of sitting out on our front and back porches. This includes having dinner outside on our back porch as much as possible.
  2. Go to nearby parks – We’ve only lived here for a year and there is sooooo much to do and see, so instead of taking a big vacation this summer, we’re exploring the areas around us. It’s still sort of new to us, so it feels like a vacation. Actually, the area we live in is an area that families come to for their vacation, and we’re already here! Score!
  3. Explore our downtown – Our town has an adorable little downtown that’s full of cute little restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. We’re going to try some new restaurants that we haven’t tried yet. This is another part of enjoying our own area, especially since we’re new here and we’re still in the exploring phase.
  4. Go to nearby towns to explore – Like I said before, lots of people come to our area for vacation, so I want to do some exploring in some other cute, little towns nearby.
  5. Outdoor concerts – Our town has outdoor concerts downtown on Friday and Saturday nights. I want to go to these as much as possible. It’s another opportunity to get outside and enjoy summer weather.
  6. Outdoor festivals – It wouldn’t be summer without some kind of festival. I’m thinking funnel cakes, cotton candy, and lemon shake ups. I guess summertime might include a little unhealthy eating, now and then. Moderation, right?
  7. Library – Do you love to read like I do? The public library makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. Free books to read? Yes! Don’t forget about free movies. If you have kids, you’ve probably already discovered Storytime. If not, you should take them. The library usually has lots of summertime activities for kids. My kids have a lot of memories of summers at the library.
  8. Family movie nights – Friday nights are a great time to get some movies, pizza, and popcorn, and just stay up late and have fun. We used to do this almost every Friday night. I’m going to include this in my summer bucket list, especially since there isn’t much on TV in the summer anyway.
  9. Picnics – I would love to do more picnics with my family, whether it’s at a park or in our own backyard. We love to grill our own food, but getting takeout and heading to the park is fun too. Check out one of my previous posts for some good picnic ideas: Planning A Summer Picnic.
  10. Road trip to visit my family – This is one of my favorite summer activities. We try to do this every summer, at least. We get together and shop, eat, go bowling, and all kinds of fun summer stuff.

Meaningful life

Well, that’s my summer bucket list! I hope to do all these and maybe more! Also, check out my post, Family Fun On A Budget and How To Plan A Weekend Trip. I hope this inspires you to make your own bucket list and have your best summer yet! I’ve listed a total of 15 items. Please let me know of at least 3 things you’re putting on your bucket list, and I might just add it to mine!

Thank you and have a great summer day!
