How To Have An Efficient Laundry System

How To Have An Efficient Laundry System    It’s time to work on our laundry system. Actually, I have always liked doing laundry. Really. I’m serious. There’s something about putting away nice, clean clothes that makes everything else feel organized, especially when picking out something to wear and you actually have clean clothes to choose from. I’m sure your family would appreciate this as well.

Like everything else I talk about, you need a schedule for your laundry. There’s basically two or three methods to choose from. Some people like to save all the laundry for one day a week. To do this, you probably would have to do several loads that day. That could be difficult or impossible for a large family, but if you have a small family or are empty nesters, this might be a great idea for you. I, however, don’t like to go an entire week without laundry, so I do a little each day, usually two or three loads per day. The loads are smaller so it’s really not too difficult to get everything put away when done. The third method falls in between, where you do laundry just 2-3 times a week and only a few loads each time. This is probably the best option, if you don’t have a lot of people in your family. Check out this free, Lifetime Laundry System, printable for reference.

On any given day that you plan on doing laundry, it’s important that you start it first thing in the morning, check it and keep it going at regular times throughout the day, and ALWAYS finish the laundry you’ve started before going to bed. By finishing, I mean ALL clothes put away, not in a pile, and not even folded into the laundry basket. It ALL must be put away!

Ironing clothes is also part of the laundry system. Again, you need a schedule for getting this done. There’s basically three methods. The first method is when you do all ironing on one day of the week This is a great way to plan all your outfits and have them ready for the week. However, some people don’t have a closet big enough to hang everything without them getting wrinkled again.

If you like to take things a day at a time, you might want to iron one outfit a day for the next day. You would probably do this after planning your next day and getting everything ready. This is usually what I do.

Another way to schedule ironing is to iron  2-3 outfits at a time. I do this when I have time. This saves time so you don’t have to get the iron and ironing board out every day. It also gives you more than one option when getting dressed in the morning.

So, there you have it. We now have a laundry system that let’s us get laundry done efficiently throughout the week so everybody has plenty of fresh, clean, ironed clothes.

Speaking of clean, who doesn’t love a clean house? Come back next time as I explain the cleaning system.
